Human Resource Outsourcing - For Efficient And Cost-effective Management

The human resource department is a must for the efficient working of an organization. Business enterprises which have reduced budgets or staff generally select human resource outsourcing as an option to deal with various responsibilities usually handled by a human resource department. To take a decision regarding what functions are to be offloaded and what to be outsourced to which firm is also an important decision.

Payroll administration, employee benefits, human resource management and risk management are some of the functions that are extended by the human resource department. There are four categories into which human resource outsourcing services are divided: BPOs, PEOs, ASPs and e-services. A PEO or Professional Employer Organization takes the legal dependability of the employees. The business owner and PEO are generally partners, in which HR aspects are normally handled by the PEO. BPO takes into account all the fields, and specifically incase of HR, a BPO will ensure that the company has all possible latest technologies. HR software are hosted by Application Service Providers (ASPs) on the Internet and then provide it on rent to the users. E-services refer to the web-based HR services.

The main purpose of outsourcing is to enable the host company to concentrate on its prime matter of concern. For instance, if there is a company that manufactures bulbs, their prime concern and experts will be in the field of electricity. Such firms can outsource their human resource services to other companies. This outsourcing ensures more accuracy and also reduced costs.

Human resource outsourcing is one of the most common services that are outsourced by business enterprises. Some of these outsourcing firms are general as they deal in almost all functions and responsibilities that are expected from an HR department. On the other hand, there are specialized HR outsourcing firms that have specialization in a particular field such as payroll or any other. Recruitment, training and development of new employees are the responsibilities of HR managers. Apart from this, maintaining a healthy environment, maintaining records regarding the benefits offered, performance analysis, pay and other such information regarding the employees of the organization are all maintained by the human resource department. They make administration all the more easy by addressing the needs of the employees along with communicating them to the top management. They work in collaboration with the production team and analyze the temporary staffing requirements that may be arising in the near future. It is their duty to ensure the job satisfaction of the employees by timely promotions based on their performance, experience and loyalty towards the organization. In a way, we can say that all these are the responsibilities that are offloaded to human resource outsourcing firms.

Human resource outsourcing is mainly opted for by small to middle sized firms which have the strength of about 25 to 1500 employees. This reduces their operational costs. Large firms prefer to have a proper human resource department of their own as there are a lot of employees who need constant assistance, encouragement and supervision to improve their productivity.
