Human Resource Managers - Intermediaries Between Top Management And Other Employees

Uncertainty and risk are innate when it comes to decision making of the management of a business enterprise. The main aim of a good management is thereby to reduce risk by making use of whatever resources are available. A human resource department is very essential to implement the strategies that have been decided by the management. Human resource managers play a key role in boosting the morale of employees, and making them more efficient by motivating them to give the best of their abilities, and also their output, to an organization. They groom the personality of employees and improve their interpersonal skills and potential to cope up with the pressure at the workplace.

One of the most important functions of human resource managers is to establish a means of communication between the top level executives and other employees at the middle or lower level, as it is not easy to maintain direct contact between them in a large business organization. Human resource department at this time listens to the grievances, and later consults, and advises the employees. It protects the rights of the employees and simultaneously keeps in mind the interest and goals of a business enterprise.

Human resource mangers are also responsible for recruitment and the employment of candidates at the correct positions. That is to say, human resource department has to ensure that the best possible candidate has been recruited for the job after considering his/her abilities and qualifications. The increase in technological, social and economic pressures and due to the soaring competition in the corporate world, it has become necessary for every organization to have a human resource department since its function is to ensure that the productivity and efficiency of the employees does not suffer because of the pressure due to competitiveness.

Human resource managers also give their suggestions in making strategies and deciding the course of action that should be adopted by the company to reach its goals. Maintaining a healthy environment, devoid of grudges, disputes and leading the employees towards the goal as a unified team is essential and is the responsibility of human resource department only.

Hiring new people everyday and providing them training is a very time consuming task and not practical, considering the ever-changing face of the corporate world. Thus, providing training to the existing employees according to the latest advancements is a more feasible option available. It is important to update the skills of employees according to the new technologies that are being introduced and other such things. So, it is necessary for the human resource department to conduct seminars and training programs to help employees learn the new techniques in their field and implement them in their work in whichever way possible. The human resource department ensures job satisfaction of the employees, while their compensation is all handled by human resource managers.  They also look forward to improving the interpersonal skills of employees to ensure their overall development at the work place. The ethics and the code of conduct that should be observed by employees are also defined by the human resource department.
